A few fun moments at the beach over Spring Break, that happen to be my favorite…

Friday- was the boys’ last basketball game with the championship game being on Saturday this game meant a lot. He has played so well this season…I’m rather shocked because his sport of choice, the sport that is number one in his heart is soccer. I think with more practice and a lot more game play he could really excel in basketball, the talent is definitely there.
His team won Friday night and Saturday they won 1st place in the Championship game.
Saturday- After the boys championship basketball game we headed to the softball fields. I played with the princess and snapped a few pictures while everyone else, including the teenagers 2 bff’s practiced softball.
It was very cold, but a lot of fun.
Sunday- Go fly a kite!
This picture definitely tells a story!!
After my hair appointment Friday I met up with my mom, my cousin, my cousins mom (my Aunt), and 2 other friends and their moms for my Aunts 60th birthday. My cousin had arranged dinner for all of us and then after we would go bowling…simple and fun.
That’s not how the night went.
I arrived to dinner late and when I got there everyone was already feeling a lil happy from the margaritas they were all very happily enjoying. There was so much laughter, a few happy tears and many whoaaa moments.
When we left there everyone was good…a lil tipsy, but good. I drove because I didn’t drink so my take on the night is very different then what they all remember…ha-ha!
My cousin and I thought it was so funny to see our mothers after having “a few too many.”
Who would have thought that two 60 year old women would party harder than their own daughters? =) Not us!
At the bowling alley things went downhill extremely fast after checking in and getting our shoes.
One passed out in the bathroom on the toilet, got her up and to a seat where she passed out again, 3 fell down the alley as they tried to bowl, 1 bruised her chin pretty bad after hitting her face on the bowling balls, 1 puked on herself and another, 1 had to be carried out by 3 guys and ALL of us were asked to leave.
What in the world happened!? I don’t know but it was CRAZY…fun, but insanely crazy!
Its safe to say….. I will never show my face in that bowling alley again for the. rest. of. my. life!
After driving everyone home safely I headed on my way home through a nasty storm. I left Virginia at 12 something and arrived home around 3am. Wide awake I sat and watched a little bit of TV until my eyes screamed they couldn’t stay open any longer at almost 4am. At 7:20am a little girl who didn’t like going to bed without her mother at home woke up looking for me.
And so my day began.
The boy plays for a basketball association with his school; the VBA as they call it very good for him. It gives him good practice and it lets him be the big man on the court. He had a game Saturday and we all attended. He plays really well…better than I thought he would since Soccer is his sport of choice.
We had yummy homemade chicken enchiladas for dinner and for desert my little princess shared a few M&M’s with me.
To sum up Sunday….we all slept in late, the man painted the utility room, I edited a few pictures, we sat around the house, we had pizza for dinner, and we watched the Super Bowl.
Not overly exciting but very relaxing.
This weekend was a fun filled snowy blast!
Friday night we headed out to VA to take the teenager to her birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse where we met up with the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. As always the time together with family was a blast.
Afterwards we headed to target to get a few things for the teenagers’ party on Saturday. The weather man called for 8-10 inches of snow overnight and all day Saturday. We brushed it off because here in NC/VA we don’t get snow very often…like not at all.
I don’t know who was more excited…the kids or the man. After the kids went to bed I watched him check out the front door at least 5 times, until the moment we finally saw the snow start to fall at 1am.
We woke up Saturday morning to a bright winter wonderland. I love the way the snow hides all the imperfections and makes everything beautiful. The dead onion filled grass, the shed that needs to be painted, the well that needs to be fixed…it all looks so beautiful covered in snow.
When the teenager woke up and saw all the snow she wasn’t very happy…well, I think she had mixed emotions. It was fabulous to have the snow but she also worried that it would affect her party and who would be able to come. Surprisingly enough, most of the people that she had invited made it. (what exceptional parents for driving them over AND picking them up in the ice & snow)
The party was a hit…there was snow ball fights in the dark, wii games, movies, ice cream cake, brownies, cupcakes, stuffed animal fight, presents and lots of laughter and fun. What more could a 15 year old ask for?
Sunday January 31st was the teenagers’ actual birthday. Her bff spent the night, and that morning they were awakened by a few neighborhood friends who came down to play out in the snow and have another snow ball fight! Brrrr!
The entire family spent another exhilarating day outside in the snow, had a nice steak dinner and later that evening us 5 totally exhausted people passed out early.
We woke Monday morning to find that the roads were still a mess so they canceled school.
My thoughts….OH GREAT!
Imagine this, a weekend of birthday fun every day, PLUS snow, mix that in with about 30 people in and out of the house everyday…can you picture the cleanliness of my house!?!?
IT’S A MESS!
So here it is Tuesday now…school was a 2 hour delay this morning and I’m completely behind schedule. Here I am sitting here writing this when I should be up cleaning this MESS that surrounds me.
29/365: Friday night we went to VA for the teenagers 15th birthday dinner with family at Texas Roadhouse. As we all sang Happy Birthday to her she had to sit upon the saddle…wooohooo!
30/365: We dont get much snow here in VA/NC….who am I kidding, we hardly ever get snow. So when the weather man called for 8-10 inches, we laughed it off…who is laughing now!?
Happy New Year!
I’m looking forward to an exciting 2010, here are a few reasons why….
* I was just booked for a wedding in August; to which I will also be doing her bridal portraits. Exciting!
* We are planning a trip to Disney World sometime around October/November. And boy, does this family need a family vacation!
* I plan on getting organized…the photography, the house, the kids, and myself.
* I hope…I WILL lose 20 pounds. Its a need as much as a want. Sitting here has made me out of shape and chunky, I don't like it.
* Regarding photography…I have so much more to learn and I look forward to challenging myself to do so.
One way to help in doing that is that I am going to start a 365 challenge. One photo a day for 365 days, so for those days when I really don’t feel like picking up my camera-this pushes me to do so.
To start off a New Year and my 1st 365 day challenge…
She cut Daddy’s hair today
I love her face when she woke up & walked into the room, well we actually had to wake her at 9am…her rosy red cheeks & the shock on her face as she glanced at all the goodies that Santa left her. Two thumbs up for the “motorcycle” from Santa!
For months, other than her “motorcycle” she begged for all things “As Seen on TV”. But the one that she wanted the very most was the Touch and Brush. She was literally squealing with delight when she opened it!!
A special gift that both of the big kids’ received were their jerseys. Cowboys Romo jersey for the teenager and Manchester United Rooney jersey for the boy, they were overjoyed!
Another gift that was one of my favorites, we all got our team football hats!
The Boy-Packers, Lil Princess- lil Giants, The Man- Giants, ME- Panthers, and The Teenager- Cowboys
I would love to share every picture of every gift that everyone received but that would be way too much.
Do know, they all received everything they desired….spoiled rotten I tell you! ;)
A few years ago we stopped visiting on Christmas day, it just got to be too much. We live an hour and a half away from everyone so immediately after opening presents we would have to get ready, leave and be gone all day. I felt awful that the kids had no time to just sit back, relax and enjoy all that the received. So my mother and father started coming over here after church in the morning and it’s been that way ever since.
On Saturday we went visiting family…it was so nice being around everyone. I really love the family I have and I feel truly blessed to have them in my life.
Don't you think they look more like brother & sister?
My utterly gorgeous niece…
The Man won some money from his team the Giants beating my fathers team the Redskins…
Me and my Lil Princess…
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and an even better New Year!
All my love…xoxo
I have so many photo’s that I want to share of our Christmas so I'm going to start on Christmas Eve.
She woke up Christmas eve begging to open “just ONE” present.
Oh, the excitement of Hungry Hungry Hippo!
We spent the entire Christmas Eve baking goodies to pack up as an added bonus gift to the grandparents. We made Chocolate Marshmallow Brownies, Chocolate covered pretzels sprinkles with peppermint and chocolate sprinkles, and Puppy Chow.
The lil princess watched her message from Santa and was completely blown away.
To be continued…..
